Freck MS!!! lol.Sign in to Microsoft Messenger failed because the service is not responding. Three months are long period of time in the world of programming.and MIcrosoft changed idea several times so. It would also be good to use screen sharing similar to iChat in 10.5/10.6However I've always been disappointed by Microsoft so I have no hope that any of the above feature will be integrated.or that Microsoft Messenger 8.0 will ever be released. but I still think it is better integrated with MSN protocol. This is why I can't wait to see how version 8.0 with audio and video support performs.Skype is more and more used here, but it has not those 'social' features that Adium or Yahoo Messenger (for Windows) have, like photo sharing, access to facebook chat, the creation of personalized smileys (I can't live without). This is frustrating, but this doesn't happen when I use Microsoft Messenger for MAC.Sure probably the current Microsoft Messenger version (7.x) is not written in cocoa and so on, it has no audio/video support for personal chats etc.

It's not broken down by geography, but from stats collected by Sparkle, MSN is the top IM service used in Adium: Īs far as Italy is concerned I can confirm that MSN MESSENGER is the most used application in here.As most of the MAC users I have Adium but I must say that there are parts of the program that I dislike, like the slow-speed rate during file transfer. Though as an academic, I suggest you leave a link of some kind to support your statement even if you are right. According to comscore it is #1 in Canada!!! I don't believe it, (2007 statistics, does not take into account Google messaging), OMG it doubles the amount of uniques that AIM and Yahoo have. I am absolutely positive that MSN is not the #1 IM service in Canada. LOL!!!, I would love to see the statistics on that.

I cringe when I see people use MSN Messenger on their Macs in the library and in class. You can't even spell "Canadian."This comment was edited by LanceFu on Decem01:11This comment was edited by LanceFu on Decem01:27 1 IM service in Canada, how about you provide some source too? Simply say you don't believe it doesn't sound very "academic" to me. I've been searching for a while, and couldn't find any.If Potcaster, you're so sure that it's not the no. Adium is highly customizable too.I have to say I have no idea how reliable this source is, and the data is from 2008, but here you go: : Alright, it seems that the data is simply a head count of the service usage through a IM client that I've never heard of.

Main reason is that Adium supports offline messaging, the official one does not. I keep recommending it over the official client to all my friends.

I will have no choice but to boot up my PC laptop only to use this function on Windows every time I'd like to talk to my family. The current official MSN Messenger on Mac is not really usable though, Adium is a much better alternative. The lack of A/V support is a big problem ever since I bought my iMac. Also, my family and friends in east Asia are all using it. I live in Canada, most people I know are using MSN Messenger. Man oh man, you Canadiens never cease to amaze me (that includes you Dad).
